3 Idiots..

Why 3 Idiots movie is appealing to all?? If we question ourselves, we get an answer why not?? First and foremost is The Aamir Khan image of standing high for perfection, integrity,his record of intense performance in films like Tare Jammen per, Ghajini, and now we are drawn to this movie, without a second thought. Those who have read the novel,his first , by Chetan Bhagat, an ex IIT ian himself writing about not so very highly intellectual, but just average students struggling for grades, we are just about excited, a movie about non heroes, how is this made?? Raju Hirani's track record of Munnabhai's movies is the final pull, which seated us in the theater, not an inhouse screening.
The first surprise.. where is Aamir Khan.. few minutes have passed in the movie, we have not yet laid our eyes on the super hero ,as one is referred in Hindi movie jargon. The other two heroes and the third one -the villain of the movie are , start their travel in search of our hero, and we are thrown into the thick of the prestigious Imperial College of Engineering.(ICE). How the stereo type of ragging and teaching and the competetive spirit and the Presiding Head of the Institute are challenged by our sweet Aamir, at every turn, starting with advicing millimeter ,a character , an errand boy,to just buy an uniform of his like ,and go and sit in a class and educate himself, implying, he cannot afford to pay the fees and carry on the burden of admitting himself into such schools.Punching a dig at our exhoribantly expensive quality education, which is affordable only to one class of the society- the high society of rich and very rich.The rot in education, in just producing a xerox copy of text book in the exams, without being challenged of any real learning, the pressure of keeping dead lines ,at the cost of quality,the dread of facing querries by faculty, the high hopes of the family members forcing the students to fall in line with the routine process of attaining a degree at the end of four years, not bothering to ponder, what they have learned, the 3 Idiots by now are pulling our heart strings and eyes are already moist.

The love angle also is introduced quite late in the movie, keeping us on tender hooks, where is Kareena..and from the first eyeing, he has to draw her from a very well settled accomplished NRI doctor, this we know, is a cake walk ,for our directors, we have seen countless movies of the same content..But here too our hero surprises us, by just revealing the phoniness of the fiance and leaving at that. Again ,we do not see her, for a few more scenes. The story developes in taking digs at our prestigious ICE and the resulting confrontation with the Head of the Institute, fondly called Virus..played to the hilt by our fond Boman Irani of munnabhai fame, this is a cake walk for this accomplished actor, and you start loving this ,supposedly, anti hero character, too, for his stubborn ness, for his strict timing, for his love of opera and he being the father of two lovely daughters.one ,being our heroine Kareena.You remember your own, demonic college principals, of your time, who you thought, you have thrown into time dungeons, they come out into your frame of mind menacingly, and you enjoy this ... more personally.

The speech scene is not that much appealing, we cannot laugh , at the cost of chatur- anti hero, being pulled his leg so viciously,not the cup of our hero, we feel, but we excuse, as this scene forms the fulcrum of the movie, where in the swing of success and excellence start swinging.

And the scenes of our hero getting accepted by heroine kareena are sweet, short, the final scenes of the birth of a new baby, into this world of competetion, with a promise by the protaganist till now of these absurd values ,to let him be what ever he wants.. is the final message of the movie. Chatur and the 2 Idiots, by now accomplished in their own way, now search and find the final mantra of Excellence in Aamir, running a school with all the innovative practices, he dreamed of, and he becoming a scientist, with 400 patents and most sought after.Success and the girl ,he loved, come in search of this Pinnacle of Bliss, the final step, a content man can achieve.

It is definitely, a carefully drafted movie ,with all the cliches.. but we fall for it head long.
A definite watch movie for parents, just relax.. your son may be one of these Idiots.. relax...nothing to worry..
